Knit Hat - Mini Hat Ornament – Dave Lewis
Cast on 20 and close the circle.
Row 1 – Chain 2 – half double crochet in next four stitches.
Row 2 – Chain 2 - half double crochet in next four stitches. Cut thread leaving about a six inch tail. Thread yarn through each stitch and pull tight to cinch closed the top of the thumb.
A couple of loops can be added to use to hang the hat.
Weave in ends.
Mitten Ornaments – Dave Lewis
I am using size 7 double pointed needles with #4 worsted yarn and a 5mm crochet hook
Cast on 20 and divide between three needles. I use 8-4-8
Close the circle making sure it is not twisted.
K2 P2 for 8 rows
Row 9 – Crochet off each stitch with a single crochet (20). Transfer the stitch to the crochet hook and do a single crochet. Do this all the way across and slip stitch to close
Row 10 – Chain 2 – Half double crochet in each stitch across (20). Slip stitch to close
Row 11 – body of mitten – chain 2, half double crochet for 6 stitches, skip 5, half doule crochet to the end of the row, slip stitch to close (14)
Row 12 – 16 chain 2, half double crochet in each stitch across, slip stitch to close. (14)
Row 17 – chain 2, half double crochet in every other stitch – (7) Cut thread leaving about a six inch tail.
Row 18 – Thread tail with yarn needle. Thread yarn through each stitch and pull tight to cinch closed the top of the mitten.
Thumb – Tie on yarn to the thumb stitch at the join with the body. Identify your 5 stitches. Put needle through the first stitch and chain three, make a double crochet in each of the next four stitches.
Row 2 - chain three, make a double crochet in each of the next four stitches
Weave yarn through the top of the last row and cinch to close. Weave in ends.
